Tips to Keep You Healthy for Life

- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Move more. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise as many days as you can.
- Eat a variety of foods for a healthy diet.
- Get enough calcium and vitamin D every day.
- If you drink alcohol, drink it in moderation. Don’t drink if you are pregnant or underage. Learn the signs of alcohol misuse at familydoctor.org.
- Don’t use illegal drugs or misuse medication.
- Talk to your health care provider about any health concerns or issues you may have.
- Have a reproductive life plan.
- Get routine exams and screenings. Check out womenshealth.gov for the most recent recommendations.
- Make sure you get all necessary vaccinations.
- Make some time for yourself; try to reduce the amount of stress in your life.
- Sleep well. Try to get seven to nine hours of sleep every night.
- Apply sunscreen every day and avoid the sun during midday when its rays are strongest.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Wear a seatbelt and drive safely.
- Take a multivitamin with 400 mcg of folic acid every day!
